CCC# 44 - HALLOWEEN Z-FOLD CARD

Thanks for stopping by!  Today over at Cricut Cardz Challenge - we have begun our Challenge #44 which is to make a Z-Fold or some call it S-Fold Halloween card using any colors and Cricut cartridges we wanted.

  • Card base:  Orange Value Pack card (pre-scored for easy folding!)  The front cover is folded back onto itself to make the Z-Fold.
  • Background starry night paper from Karen Foster Designs, Biggie Bundle, Throughout the Year #3
  • The front panel background paper is cut @ 5 1/4" x 1 7/8"
  • The inside background paper is cut @ 5 1/4" x 4"
  • The pumpkin man (doesn't he look so happy?!) is from a Cricut Cut swap I did with a couple of ladies.  My ruler says he's 4".  I added a black button and some orange jute to him.
  • The grass came from my extra cut file.  I think it's from Mickey & Friends.  It was much longer than this, I just cut it long enough for him to sit behind.
  • Ribbon from Michael's.  I let the lighter flame barely touch the ends.  This hardens the ends and keeps them from fraying.  Just a second.  Don't go crazy and burn your ribbon up.
  • I used some Rub-Ons from Target's $1 bin to rub on "All Hallow's Eve" on the front panel.
Hop over and join in the fun!  We'd love to see a Z-Fold Cricut Halloween card you make!

52Q WEEK 9

52Q Week 9 Question:
"Your Honey is throwing you a surprise Birthday Bash.  What do you hope the theme is?"
Maybe you would love a Luau, or a throwback to the 50's with poodle skirts and leather jackets, or maybe you love to bowl and want a bowling party... Whatever it is - that's your question for this week!  Thanks, Sheree, at CravinScrappin for suppling this question!!

I used MINI MONSTERS to create a Birthday Princes for my page.  She's on page 47 and cut @ 4 1/2 with Shadow also.  The phrase is cut @ 1 1/2" and again with the Shadow.  (I'm loving this cart!)

Make sure and leave your link below when you finish your project!  To see a list of ALL the questions we've had so far, click here.

Have a fun day!  :) Janis

SUNDAY'S CAMERA ADVENTURE

LOL!  According to the email inquiries I've gotten, I got you ladies curious as to our Sunday adventure! Here's the scoop:
Augusta, GA was the host of the 2010 IRONMAN competition on Sunday.  IRONMAN is a triathlon.  They start swimming, transition to biking, then finish with running.
We walked about 3 miles of the course to watch the swimming and then transition to the biking.  Did I mention it was raining the whole time?  We were soaked when we got home.  Sloshy shoes, drenched hair and clothes.  hahaha  But it was really neat to watch these amazing athletes.
Here are just a few of the pics we took.
I chose not to capture the blonde wearing a sign on her butt that said,
"IRONMAN you've got STAMINA... call me"
I was surprised they actually swam in that alligator river.  Are they crazy?  I just took pictures last weekend of an alligator in that very river.  Not me.  Uh-uh. No way. No how.

Our beautiful daughter, Bonnie.  Her sister, Kati, is a photographer with mad skills.  I took this picture of Bonnie and Kati worked her magic and got the people in the background all removed.  I don't know how in the world she does stuff like that.  I just love this picture.  Wet hair and everything!

CREATE A CRITTER REMINDER BOARD

Hello all my bloggy friends!!  Here is a Reminder Board I made with Create A Critter.  I will hang it on our frig with post-it notes to scribble down things to remember.

Create A Critter p.37
Cheese cut @ 3 1/2"
Mouse cut @ 4 1/2" and used Shadow feature
Camera cut @ 3 1/2" and used Shadow feature
Phrase cut @ 3"
Papers from Debbie Mumm stack
Background paper 12"x12" attached to sturdy cardboard (from the back of a paper pack)
Orange paper cut @ 10 1/2" x 10 1/2"
Black strips cut and attached behind orange sheet.  I didn't have anything bigger than 8 1/2" x 11", so I just cut strips and laid them around the outside edges of the orange.  It worked out perfectly.
The post it notes can hang from the bottom strip.
I'll probably punch holes in the top with my Crop-a-dile and hang this on my frig with suction cups.
I was pretty tickled with out it turned out!
Hugs!

CRICUT CARDZ CHALLENGE #43

Isn't Little One here so sweet?!  This week over at Cricut Cardz Challenge we are to make a card for a new baby using any cartridges we'd like and the colors green, orange, yellow and white ONLY.

I made a card a little larger than the A2 size cards I usually make.  This card size is A6, and I followed the instructions the Martha Stewart Scoring Board provides.  Just start out with a piece of cardstock 9" x 6 1/4" and score @ 4 1/2".  This will make your finished card size 4 1/2" x 6 1/4".

The papers for this card came from several different stacks.  Here's all the info:
  • Orange background paper from DCWV Indian Summer cut at full size for front of card which is 4 1/2" x 6 1/4"
  • Dark green mat (textured) from DCWV Ultimate Year Stack cut @ 4 1/4" x 6"
  • Green & white polka dotted mat from DCWV Nana's Kids (embossed) cut @ 4" x 5 3/4"
  • Orange ribbon from Joann's
  • Prima Flowers - Multi Bright from Michael's with added green rhinestone in center from Joann's
  • Cricut Cartridge:  NEW ARRIVAL
  • "Little One" cut @ 2" page 110 in yellow and again in white with Shadow Feature
  • Baby page 97 cut @ 3" and face drawn on with Ultra Fine Tip Black Sharpie
  • Diaper cut in white and colored with Orange Stampin' Up chalk
  • The little baby is popped up with foam squares
I hope you hop over and join in the fun at Cricut Cardz Challenge this week!  Happy Hump Day!

FABULOUS FIND IN BLOGLAND!

Please go visit my sweet friend, Melissa, at her blog A PAPER JOURNEY.  She has given me permission to share a project she made recently with Mini Monsters.  Now here's a short, funny story.....

I have been drooling over wanting MINI MONSTERS and HAPPY HAUNTINGS for a while now.  I was trying to catch up on the blogs I follow this morning when I popped over to Melissa's blog.  I saw this most darling house that I can't wait to make with MINI MONSTERS when I get it.  But instead of a Haunted House, she actually made it as a "Welcome Baby" or rather "Welcome Little Monster!"  How CUTE is that?!  So creative!  Makes me giggle.  I love it!!

Here is one of the photos of this card, but hop over to her blog to see how it opens and everything.  It's awesome!  Make sure and leave her some comment love.  We all like comment love.  :)

LOL  If you have any trouble posting your picks, just let me know, and I'll try to help you get it up if I can.

This week's question is:

WHO OR WHAT HAS LEFT FOOTPRINTS ON YOUR SOUL?

Can't wait to see what you create for your page!

AUTUMN BLESSINGS

This week over at PAPER PLAYTIME
Challenge #17's theme is:
AUTUMN
We would love for you to hop over and play along with us this week!
We are sponsored by
The above card is using one of Robyn's Fetish Digi Stamps -
POPPY FAIRY.
I wrote a poem for the inside sentiment.
(You didn't know I was a writer, did you?
And I mean writer as in journal,
I write poetry, sometimes songs,
but no, not a published writer -
then I'd call myself an Author. LOL)

The inside says:
May Autumn bring you
cool breezes
laughter at sunset
hayrides
apples to bob for
masks, candy, and giggles
smiling scarecrows
owl songs in the evening
quilts on the porch swing
a hand to hold
family feasts
memories to last a lifetime

Thanks for stopping by!
I appreciate your comments and for following
Pause Dream Enjoy.
Blessings to you and your's!

BLOG HOP!

Welcome to our Blog Hop!  So happy you hopped by!!
If you didn't hop here from Theresa's blog, CLICK HERE to start the hop at the beginning.  For a complete list of everyone in the hop, see a list of links at the bottom of this post.

MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE A COMMENT ON EVERY POST IN THE BLOG HOP!  EACH BLOG WILL BE GIVING AWAY A PRIZE!

For my project, I decided to make an Accordion Mini Album.  This is a very easy album to make.  You do not need anything special really except your imagination and mojo.

I used a Cricut for my cuts, but you can decorate an album like this any way you like.
  • Start off with 2 pieces of  8 1/2" x 11" cardstock.
  • Cut each piece in half @5 1/2" so that you have four pieces of cardstock measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".
  • Score each piece in the middle at 4 1/4".  Fold all pieces and give good creases.
  • Unfold each piece.
  • You will adhere the pieces together to form an accordion fold or "mountain and valley".
  • For example, half of one piece will overlap half of the added adhered piece entirely.
  • You can add pattern paper, pockets, tags, ribbons, flowers.... anything you want to decorate your mini album!
Here is Halloween Album #1

And here is a second one I made with the same theme:

I used the Cricut to make the die cuts and tags, and this was so fun to make!

Please make sure you leave a comment on every blog along the hop.  Each of the blogs will be drawing a winner from their comments on their blog hop post for a prize. My prize is one of the Mini Accordion Albums shown above, so be sure to leave a comment here!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Your next stop is Kim!

And here is a complete list of all the blogs on the hop:

  1. Ruthie
  2. Theresa
  3. Janis (me - you are here!)
  4. Kim
  5. Michelle
  6. Mary
  7. Chris
  8. Nicole
  9. Joy

Have fun!  Hugs!! Janis

TRICK OR TREAT.... GIVE ME SOMETHING GOOD TO EAT

Hey!  I have a quick post for you.  Here's a card I made today with PAPER DOLL DRESS UP!  I used the "tent" fold on this one.  The fold is at the top instead of the side, but it's still an A2 size card.  Unfolded the card measures 4 1/4" x 11".  Folded it's 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Here is a side view so you can see what I mean:
I faux stitched around the moon and the black card base.  The other faux stitching on the background paper just came that way.

The background paper is from a Target Halloween pack with only 8 sheets of different Halloweeny patterns I got for $1.  Some of the papers (like this one) has shiny parts on them.  It's cut @ 5 1/4" x 4".

The sentiment "give me something good to eat!" was cut from another one of the papers in the pack.

Happy Moon is from page 53 on PDDU cut @ 3 1/2" Real Dial Size.

The Trick or Treat bag is on page 52 cut @ 2 1/2" Read Dial Size.  It cuts lines for the letters and I just went over that with a black sharpie.

ENJOY!

Don't forget the FALL BLOG HOP tomorrow starting at 8 in the morning EST.  Lots of prizes!  Make sure you leave a comment on my blog post!

:) Janis

CRICUT SEARCH SITE!!!

You can grab their button from their site (HTML code)!!

Have you discovered CRICUT SEARCH?  Thanks to my wonderful friend, SANDRA, I am now a CRICUT SEARCH fan!

This site allows you to enter a word for a cut you are looking for.  Example, I entered FENCE because I've been wanting a fence cut for a Halloween card.  The search will bring up all the cricut manual pages that have either the WORD fence or the IMAGE fence.  You can then click on the manual pages to get a closer look.

This is so cool.  I have more fences in the carts I own than I realized.  And what really surprised me, was one of the images it brought up, I thought was a railroad track in my manual, but now that the search has brought it to my attention, I see that you can use it for a railroad track or a fence.  It opens your eyes to other possibilities.

THIS IS MY FABULOUS FIND FOR FRIDAY!!

Have a GREAT day!

Now go do some searching! Oh!  Cricut Search also has a YouTube channel for video tutorials on how to use the site.  Coolness!

PUMPKIN HALLOWEEN CARD

This is probably the last project I will post until early next week.  I'm not feeling 100% and I've got some other things I'll be busy with tomorrow and this weekend.... not trying to whine, I just don't want you to see no activity and forget about me. :)

This card was a challenge.  I knew I wanted to use certain elements, but tying them all together was a bit challenging.  In the end, I'm very happy with how it turned out.

  • Card base gray - cut so that it folds at the top.  Still an A2 size card.
  • The measurements for the 3 background mats are approximate.  I kept trimming slightly here and there to show a little more color.
  • Textured orange 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
  • Green 5 1/8" x 3 3/4"
  • Burnt orange 4 3/4" x 3 1/2"
  • Tree stump from CREATE A CRITTER RDS 1"
  • Pumpkin man from Cricut Cut Swap STRETCH YOUR IMAGINATION RDS 4"
  • Moon from PAPER DOLL DRESS UP RDS 1 1/2"
  • Black button and orange jute from stash
  • "Happy Halloween" stamped sentiment from Target (was in a pack of 4 for $1)
  • Green rhinestones for pumpkin man eyes (shimmery)
Have a safe and fun weekend.  DON'T FORGET THE FALL BLOG HOP SATURDAY HERE ON MY BLOG!  PRIZES TO BE WON - you must leave a comment on the Fall Blog Hop Post on Saturday to be eligible to win the prize!
Hugs!
